About Me

Hello, I’m Amanda Skwarok, a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). In accordance with CAP’s Standards of Practice and Standards for Supervision, I provide services under the supervision of Stephanie David, Registered Psychologist, who oversees my clinical work.
I support Youth, Young Adults, Adult Women, and Parents as they navigate anxiety, stress, relationships, and life transitions. My professional journey began as a teacher, where I developed a deep appreciation for the emotional, social, and developmental challenges individuals and families face. This experience shaped my commitment to creating safe, supportive spaces where people can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences with care and curiosity.

Transitioning into psychology, I bring a blend of clinical training and genuine compassion to my work. I draw from a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to support clients in managing concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, perfectionism, and periods of change or uncertainty. My goal is to help clients develop insight, emotional resilience, and practical skills that support meaningful growth both in and outside of therapy.

I take a holistic view of well-being, recognizing that mental health is influenced by the mind, body, relationships, lifestyle, and environment. In our work together, we may explore how stress shows up physically, how routines and relationships affect balance, and how factors such as movement, rest, and connection support emotional health, always in a way that feels collaborative, grounded, and tailored to you.
My Approach

Mental health support is never one-size-fits-all. I take a person-centered and collaborative approach, meeting each client where they are and tailoring therapy to their goals, strengths, and lived experiences. This allows our work together to feel focused, relevant, and supportive of real-life challenges.

My approach is grounded in evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness- and somatic-informed practices. These approaches are not quick fixes, but practical tools that help individuals build long-term skills for emotional regulation, self-understanding, and navigating stress, relationships, and life transitions with greater confidence.

Therapy may also include gentle exploration of lifestyle factors such as sleep, movement, daily routines, and stress patterns, as these often play an important role in emotional well-being. By integrating psychological insight with mind–body awareness and practical strategies, therapy supports meaningful and sustainable change. Above all, my role is to offer a calm, safe, and supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and equipped with tools you can carry forward beyond our work together.

Hobbies & Interests

Outside of my professional work, I find balance and joy in nature, creativity, and simple rituals. The mountains feel like my second home, and I love spending time hiking, camping, kayaking, and paddleboarding in the summer, while in the winter you’ll often find me skiing or snowshoeing.

Creativity is another space where I feel most alive. I play guitar and sing, dabble in a few other instruments, and enjoy sketching or working with charcoal. Every so often, I attempt to bring my ideas to life on canvas with paint. These outlets remind me of the importance of curiosity, expression, and play which are values that deeply influence how I approach my work with clients.

At home, I share life with my dog, June, who brings laughter, love, and adventure into my days. I also have a soft spot for plants, animals, and the simple joys of life, like a steaming cup of chai tea or the weight of a good hardcover book. These little rituals anchor me, helping me stay present and connected, both in my own life and in the work I do alongside clients.
